May 2021 Newsletter
Mothers will be celebrated by their families this weekend in special ways. There will be flowers and sweets; phone calls from children who live too far away for a visit; cards and gifts; breakfast in bed or brunch or dinner at a nice restaurant.  Keep a place in your prayer this day for all the mothers who will rejoice with their families this weekend...

Following a presentation by Wendy Ellsworth and Donna Holton on the latrine project they sponsored in Isiolo County, Kenya, Saucon Rotary established a committee to explore the opportunity of extending their work through Rotary.

The Zebra Manyatta Assessment Team (ZMAT) held its first meeting on April 1. The members are Wendy, Donna, Linda Mayger, Ray Holton, George Morrison and Linda Young, with advisors DG Janet Kolepp and PDG Ron Smith. They reviewed the status of the current project, Rotary Grant requirements and potential partner Clubs in Kenya. The second meeting, May 5, highlighted community contacts made by our project manager Apin Yasin, including the Rotary Club of Meru, and a presentation and discussion with Water Is Life Kenya (WILK) Founder and President Joyce Tannian. Joyce and her organization have been working in Kenya since 2007. They have drilled 24 wells, in addition to founding programs to educate women in the business of cattle-raising, and to help widows secure ownership of their land. Joyce is willing to help with our assessment!

As a side benefit of the project, we are building membership. Wendy has joined Saucon Rotary and Apin is exploring a club in Kenya.
